I’ve been trying to get into the Texas Photographic Society’s juried international photo competition for several years. There is always a high quality of work submitted for this one, and getting in means being in the company of some wonderful photographers. So I was really pleased to have a print chosen for this year’s show (shown above). Aline Smithson was the juror. Aline is a terrific photographer in her own right and has become a strong advocate for other photographers through her blog, Lenscratch. Rumor has it she will be showcasing some of my work from my Life on Wheels: The New American Nomads project sometime next week. The work will be shown at the A. Smith Gallery in Johnson TX from August 3 – August 26 and will then tour Texas for one year.
Another show opens with one of my images in September at The Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins CO on September 7. Ann Jastrab of RayKo Photo Center in San Francisco, and Hamidah Glasgow, the director of the center, were the jurors for this year’s Center Forward competition. This is also a tough one to get into as there is so much good and deserving work entered. Really happy to be part of it. Since I will be traveling in Colorado in September and October, I’m actually going to be able to attend the opening on the 7th. To all my traveling friends, you are cordially invited to attend as well. Hope to see you there!
