We are overnighting in Badlands National Park in South Dakota. We are told this has been an abnormally wet summer in this region of the state, It is unheard of for the park to be so green this late in the year. There is so much tall grass, the local bison have become fat a lazy. Good Times! We have been fortunate in terms of weather as well. Temperatures are in the low 80’s instead of the usual. high 90’s-100’s. We spent an enjoyable evening photographing at an overlook of badland formations. The land is so flat around here that last light comes in at a very low angle and lights up the formations in a very appealing way. We will spend a second day here tomorrow before making a dash across the rest of the state. Our next stop will be effigy mounds in Iowa.
