August 6

We arrived at City of Rocks National Reserve in Idaho today. We are here because of the Pioneers who regularly moved through this area on their trek west. Many of them would mark the rock faces using axle grease from the covered wagons. Many of the marks protected from the elements are still visible today. Like so many people through time, the pioneers felt the need to mark the landscape. And once one did it, many others added their contributions.
